Gitel Bargman is smart, beautiful, witty, and a successful violinist. But she is unable to enjoy her success, let alone fall in love with her suitors, because she is haunted by her past and the ghosts of her sisters. Twenty-five years earlier, when Gitel was only 13, her family was murdered by the Nazis. Now Gitel must return to Lithuania and confront the horrors of her childhood in order to embrace the blessings of her own survival.
