An epic drama about French writer Romain Gary’s extraordinary life. Gary (Pierre Niney, Frantz) grew up the only child of a devoted mother (brilliantly played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Melancholia). Based on Gary’s own autobiographical novel, the film’s sweeping narrative takes Gary though his early years in Poland, his playful adolescence in Nice, his student years in Paris, and his pilot training during WWII.
November 14th screening introduced by Michael Randall, Professor of French and Comparative Literature, Brandeis University and Arnaud Mentré, Consul General of France in Boston
